One Day in Lake Geneva
Living in the middle of United States is not as fun as living in the west and east coast, one of the reasons is that there are less spectacular nature view. The trip to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin was unplanned until I ran into a friend in the library that I lived next to. But what's good about those unplanned trips is that you do not set a high expectation and it is easier to just live in the moment, and that was what we did with this trip.

The lake is situated in Walworth County and is approximately 7.5 square miles (19.4 square kilometers) in size, making it one of the largest lakes in Wisconsin. On the road
There a few ways to Lake Geneva from Chicago which is where I live. But it turns out that the country road as below is more fun and beautiful compared to the slightly faster I94 route. As throughout the way, you may encounter into nice villages, farms and plains compared to boring concrete on the highway.
Given the time on the road, we decided to start in the morning so that a delicious brunch near Lake Geneva downtown can help kick off the trip, and there are indeed a lot of good restaurants. An American breakfast restaurant Great Eggs was the first stop and they claimed that they make one of the best burritos in those areas, and that was true! You should expect to eat in a small but clean little restaurant and welcome by the friendly people and great food. You are encouraged to just park the car near that place as this is not far away from the lake and it is free.
All about the lake
There are indeed a lot of fun around the lake such as kayak, boat cruise, hiking on the lake shore trails, it was warm when we got there in May 2023, and that was actually the first day that the kayak was re-opened after the long winter. That was a lot of fun, you are encouraged to sail to the remote edge of the lake and go back to the dock. Throughout the sail, the clear water, incredible houses and mansions on the lake shore, and luxurious boats definitely make it worth to spend two hours on paddling, lol.

The view around the lake is amazing, it is a perfect place to chill out. Just bring your blanket and snacks, lay down on the lake shore and spend the whole afternoon, what could be better than this?
Besides, there are good restaurants near the lakeshore, local people might recommend that Oakfire Pizza should be a good choice, and it turns out to be not bad, find out yourself!

This is a quiet little beautiful place, it might not be that famous to people who do not live in the central America, but it is definitely worth it to spend a day or two if you are around Illinois or Wisconsin.
